High Performance
The C9.3B engine generates more power than the 2020 model 336 engine. The increased power on the pumps, wider undercarriage, and heavier counterweight allow for up to 10% higher productivity. Adapt the hydraulic excavator to the work to be done with three power modes: Power, Smart, and Eco. The Power mode corresponds to maximum power at all times. The Smart mode automatically adjusts the engine and hydraulic power to excavation conditions, providing maximum power when needed and reducing power when not necessary to save fuel. The standard high ambient temperature capacity is 52 °C (125 °F) with a cold start capacity of -18 °C (0 °F). An optional battery-powered engine heater allows for starting at -32 °C (-25.6 °F). Automatic preheating of the hydraulic oil accelerates cold weather starting and helps extend component lifespan. Two levels of filtration protect the engine from low-quality diesel fuel. The grease retained between the axes and chain bushings reduces noise and prevents debris from entering to extend the lifespan of the undercarriage.

The new Integrated Vehicle Health Management system alerts the driver, providing step-by-step maintenance instructions and necessary parts to avoid any unnecessary downtime. Expect lower maintenance costs with 1,000-hour engine oil change intervals. Replace all fuel filters at a synchronized 1,000-hour interval. The filters are grouped and located on the right side of the machine for easy maintenance. Check the hydraulic circuit oil and easily drain water from the fuel circuit and fuel tank from ground level. The air intake filter with pre-filter has a high dust retention capacity. The hydraulic oil filter provides superior filtration; check valves allow the oil to remain perfectly clean when the filter is replaced. The high-efficiency hydraulic fan has an optional automatic reverse function to keep the radiators free of debris, eliminating the need for driver intervention. The S∙O∙S SM ports are located at ground level, simplifying maintenance and allowing for quick and easy fluid sampling for analysis purposes.
