Each Cat engine compliant with Tier2/StageII or equivalent standard is equipped with a set of proven components for electronic, fuel, air, and after-treatment circuits. Proven electronic, pneumatic, fuel, and after-treatment components for peak performance and long life. Improved emission control and fuel economy. Advanced MEUI-C electronically controlled mechanical unit injectors provide higher injection pressures and improve injection rate accuracy. These durable injectors enhance responsiveness while controlling soot levels. An innovative air management system optimizes air flow, power, efficiency, and reliability.

Industrial Level Transmission

730 - Industrial Level Transmission

The CX31 Cat six-speed forward and one-speed reverse transmission features the Advanced Productivity Electronic Control Strategy (APECS) and Electronic Clutch Pressure Control (ECPC) for smooth gear shifting, improved acceleration, and increased productivity. A speed lock/limitation function allows the machine's speed to be limited in increments of 1 km/h or 1 mph to comply with speed limits on the job site. Gear shifting has been significantly improved to maintain direct drive lock-up and eliminate converter drive engagement. Reduced use of torque converter drive helps maintain ground speed and uphill performance. Variable shift points are used based on operating conditions, which also helps maintain ground speed during gear changes on slopes. The transmission automatically adjusts shift points to better match operating conditions and performance. Slowing levels are automatically reduced on slight slopes in lower gear ratios. Automatic Commands

730 - Automatic Commands

The Advanced Automatic Traction Control (AATC) is a proactive application of axle and inter-axle differential locks. It is done "on the fly", fully automatically. The driver does not need to think about when and where to engage the differential lock. Sensors monitor the speed of the machine and wheels, allowing for instant reaction when there is high rolling resistance. The operation is continuous and smooth, eliminating wheel slippage for maximum traction and, consequently, optimal productivity. The AATC also reduces stress on tires and the transmission, eliminating efficiency losses of the machine due to incorrect manual use of differential clutches and avoiding costs associated with premature tire replacement. The automatic retarder control facilitates the use of the retarder for the driver. Like the AATC, many aspects of machine operation are monitored. If necessary, the engine compression brake is automatically engaged to control the machine's speed when going downhill. The system can help eliminate engine overspeed, thus improving the safe use of the machine and reducing cycle times, while still offering the flexibility of manual control if needed. With the assisted dumping system, it is possible to automatically tip the dump body using the new assisted lifting control. Press the new lift/lower switch for the machine to apply the service brake, put the transmission in neutral, and raise the dump body to the required engine speed. Lowering the dump body is done in the same way; press the switch for the machine to lower the dump body and put it in free position. Two pulses: one for lifting, the other for lowering. The hill start assist reduces the risk of rollback on slopes. If the driver stops the machine on a slope, the machine automatically maintains the service brake when the service brake pedal is released to prevent the machine from rolling backwards. 730 - Power and Efficiency

The new cabin is designed to facilitate all aspects of machine use for each driver. Easy-to-read and use controls and indicators allow the driver to focus on the safe use of the machine while maintaining productivity. Specific to Cat articulated trucks, the combined transmission and lifting levers represent an easy and intuitive control system for shifting and lifting functions. The new assisted lifting system optimizes driver controls, speeding up cycle times and reducing control movements. This system allows the driver to choose their preferred control method between automatic mode and manual mode. When using automatic mode to dump a load, the machine puts the transmission in neutral, applies the parking brake, and raises the dump body to the maximum at the required engine speed. When lowering the dump body, this function protects the chassis from abrupt stops, thus avoiding shocks and other risks of damage. Automatic mode can reduce driver interventions by up to 50% compared to the previous model, depending on the dumping method used on the job site. Brake, gear hold, machine speed limiter, and parking brake functions are also incorporated into the lever. This gives the machine driver the same sensations as in a car. There is no longer a need for a separate switch; simply push the lever to the parking position. Thanks to the completely redesigned and updated dashboard, the driver has easy access to all controls. It features diode-illuminated toggle switches for easy use in any operating conditions. The layout and finish provide the same sensations as in a car, combined with the industrial power one can expect from Caterpillar. The redesigned touchscreen dashboard allows the driver to monitor and adjust various machine status and performance functions, as well as machine warning categories. These include configuration settings, driver and machine totals, maintenance information, various machine status parameters, machine payload information (if applicable), stabilization system, and rearview camera video. Make and receive hands-free calls via the optional stereo system with Bluetooth functionality and enjoy better sound quality thanks to a quieter cabin and next-generation speakers.

The large open cabin provides a comfortable workspace for the driver as well as another person (for example, for training purposes). The second seat is fully padded, with a backrest and a wide retractable seat belt to ensure safe and comfortable travel. Located next to the driver's seat, this second seat provides the instructor with a clear view of the dashboard, controls, and road. The redesigned and spacious side storage compartment is heated or air-conditioned by the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system according to the driver's preferences. The vehicle also has a dual cup holder and multiple storage spaces to provide the driver with a clutter-free space. The new pneumatic suspension seat offers many adjustments compared to previous offerings, including front/rear isolation, which significantly reduces horizontal vibrations and jolts. This allows most drivers to adjust their seating position for more comfort throughout the day. The optimized automatic air conditioning system allows the driver to maintain the desired temperature. The reduction of noise levels inside the cabin to 72 dB (-4 dB compared to the previous model) helps make the work environment more comfortable for the driver, at any time, every day.

The front chassis features wide beams with high rigidity and oversized compartments, capable of withstanding high stresses. The divergent profile chassis reduces stresses in the coupling area and optimizes suspension geometry. Thanks to its design, the chassis makes the most of robotic welding for increased lifespan. The double compartment design of the rear chassis better distributes stresses and offers low weight for a long lifespan. The three-point oscillating axle front suspension offers excellent driving quality. It also protects the dump truck on very rough terrains by absorbing shocks to reduce their impact on the chassis. The articulated coupling ensures the steering of the dump truck by articulating the chassis, while the oscillation helps maintain ground contact of all wheels on uneven surfaces. All machines have a large receiving surface tipping body that consistently ensures high load capacity. The divergent design allows for clean material unloading, maximizing production and avoiding waste due to incomplete dumping of the body. The transfer case distributes power between the tractor and the trailer. It includes a wet clutch differential lock for optimal traction on unfavorable terrain. Dual circuit braking system on all wheels. The full power hydraulic circuit operates the oil bath multidisc and multiplate brakes, equipped with independent front and rear circuits and accumulators.

Product Link wirelessly connects you to your equipment, providing valuable insights into the performance of your machine or fleet. The system monitors location, operating hours, fuel consumption, productivity, downtime, and diagnostic codes through the online user interface VisionLink, to help you make quick and informed decisions to optimize efficiency and productivity while reducing operating costs. Cat Production Measurement introduces payload weight into the cabin, helping you optimize performance and productivity on the job site. Drivers can view real-time load weights on the integrated display and know precisely when the target is reached. At the same time, external payload indicators at all four corners inform the loader driver when to stop loading to avoid overload risks. Drivers can track daily productivity from the cabin or remotely, through LINK technologies, and quickly access payload weight values, load and cycle counters, as well as daily totals. The Cat Detect system with Stability Assist warns the driver if the machine approaches a preset angle during operation, driving, or tipping. If you are using the assisted lifting system, the machine stops lifting the bucket and produces an audible and visual warning. The system separately monitors the angles of the tractor, trailer, and slopes. This allows the driver to better perceive the stability of the machine during operation. All incidents related to tractor or trailer overturning are reported and recorded by the VisionLink software.
