The Productivity
The 3516E Cat diesel engine with four turbocharged and aftercooled cylinders develops 2,415 hp with over a 12% increase in lifespan compared to the previous 3516B HD engine, and improved power management capability for maximum performance in the most demanding mining applications. The 23% net torque reserve provides unmatched overload strength during acceleration, on steep slopes, and on uneven terrain. The torque reserve adapts to gear shift points to ensure maximum efficiency and fast cycle times. The Cat six-speed powershift transmission and mechanical powertrain, combined with the high-displacement 3516B engine and electronic injection, provide consistent power and efficiency for optimal powertrain performance. The 793D has a weight advantage over competing machines. It allows for transporting more goods per load, while improving tire lifespan, reducing fuel consumption, and speeding up return trips. The common rail hydraulic system provides up to 4% additional power to the ground rather than functions that are not necessary at that time.
Security
Access and egress are safer thanks to the 600mm wide staircase and walkways, non-slip surfaces, and handrails, as well as the optional motorized access staircase. An access platform to the rear cabin and an optional handrail make it easier to access the cabin service panel and rear window. A patented braking system provides immediate and resistant braking and deceleration, improving maneuverability. The 793D is designed to offer excellent panoramic visibility and unobstructed sightlines, enhanced by wide-angle mirrors and the MineStar™ Cat object detection system, which combines radar and camera systems to alert operators to the presence of light vehicles or stationary hazards in close proximity to their machine. Dumping operations are safer thanks to a bucket lifting indicator, a bucket retention cable, and a reverse neutralizer during dumping. A secondary engine shutdown switch is located at ground level, and a battery disconnect switch is located directly above the front bumper, allowing the electrical system to be locked at ground level.
Driver's comfort
Operators benefit from an ergonomic layout, excellent panoramic visibility, and controls, levers, switches, and gauges positioned to facilitate their use. The cabin is equipped with numerous features that improve comfort and reduce fatigue, such as an air-suspension seat, vibration reduction, heating, air conditioning, and soundproofing. The integrated steering and suspension designed by Caterpillar offer excellent maneuverability, safe operation, reduced operating costs, and comfortable driving. The 793D comes standard with the Cat Comfort Seat with a 3-point harness, which can be adjusted to the correct height above the driver's left shoulder. The unique driving zone indicator function allows the air suspension to compensate for the operator's weight and maintain the seat adjusted for the most comfortable position and driving experience.
Easy Maintenance
The time spent on regular maintenance procedures is reduced thanks to easy access to daily maintenance points and key components; ground-level access to tanks, filters, drains, and engine shutdown; a maintenance platform that provides access to the engine, steering hydraulic tank, and battery compartment; and an optional quick-fill maintenance center, which allows for quick replacement of fuel and oil. The modular design of the new generation of modular radiator reduces the time for removal and installation as the stairs, hood, radiator, fan, and fan motor are removed together as a single unit. Thanks to easy maintenance and 500-hour maintenance intervals, the machine combines a high level of availability and productivity. The electrical connectors are dust and moisture resistant, the harnesses are braided for protection, and the wires are color-coded to facilitate diagnosis and repair. The individual cylinder heads are interchangeable for easy removal and visual inspection of internal parts.
Durability And Long Lifespan
With a box-type design including two forged parts and 24 molded parts in areas subjected to high stress, the chassis of the 793D also features continuous penetrating and enveloping welds that prevent damage from torsion without overloading the machine. The mild steel chassis offers flexibility, durability, and shock resistance. Resiliently mounted on the main chassis to reduce vibrations and noise, the full ROPS cabin is designed as an extension of the dump truck's chassis. Component lifespan is improved thanks to the standard equipped rear axle's continuous filtration function. Cleaner oil promotes lubrication, prolonging lifespan. The chassis, powertrain, engine, and components are designed to be refurbished, offering multiple lifetimes of like-new performance at a fraction of the new price.
Durability
We have designed the 793D with a number of improvements that reduce its impact on the environment. Features such as oil renewal systems and continuous rear axle filtration reduce the amount of waste released into the environment. We continue to search for alternative energy sources such as biofuels and a dynamic gas blending solution provided by liquefied natural gas, and we are implementing power options such as electrification and trolley to find new ways to reduce emissions. Cat engines are compatible with diesel fuel blended with low carbon intensity fuels, such as FAME biodiesel (fatty acid methyl ester). They are also compatible with renewable fuels such as alternative fuels HVO (Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil) and GTL (Gas-to-Liquids). HVO and GTL can be used in all Cat engines, regardless of the blending level and up to 100%. By refurbishing machines and components, Cat Rebuild and Cat Reman programs, which preserve raw materials, save energy, and reduce emissions.
Versatility
The 793D is available in five merchandising arrangements to meet the needs of your applications: Standard, for balanced overall performance; Extended Life Wheel Groups for long uphill journeys; Extra Maximum Speed for long flat journeys; Extra Slowdown for long loaded downhill journeys; and High Altitude Arrangement for operations above 2750 m (9000 ft). The Dynamic Gas Blending™ (DGB™) Upgrade Kit from Cat allows the 793D to use both liquefied natural gas and diesel fuel to operate in areas where LNG is readily available. The mechanical drive train and Powershift transmission provide unmatched efficiency and control on steep slopes, unstable ground, and tracks with high rolling resistance.
Technological solutions
MineStar Command for transportation, an autonomous transportation solution proven to increase productivity by up to 30%, is offered as an upgrade kit for the 793D. MineStar Fleet is a fleet monitoring system that allows for the measurement, management, and optimization of all transportation operations. The MineStar Detect driver safety system intervenes when it detects fatigue or distraction. Machine health monitoring solutions enable a proactive approach to maintenance.
