The CAT® 798 AC electric drive truck is designed to transport more materials, with greater efficiency, maneuverability, and reliability than any other electric drive truck on the market. Although it is a recent addition to the leading Cat range, this truck offers the same excellent performance you expect from Cat trucks. The 798 AC provides a payload of 372 tonnes (410 US tons), high speed on slopes, easier maintenance, and excellent electrical performance during deceleration and braking. The result? Improved productivity, high availability, and more confident drivers. By carrying more with each load, each cycle, and each workday, it creates a low-cost per ton transport operation that delivers better results.

Security
Better visibility thanks to the wide field of vision from the cabin and the radial retarder grid that improves the view on the right. 600 mm (23.6 in) wide steps, a flat platform, kick plates, and motorized steps (optional) secure the ascent and descent. Features aimed at enhancing confidence such as anti-rollover, traction controls, reverse passage limiter, automatic retarder control, and door sensor warning linked to parking brake engagement. Total dynamic braking through a compact radial grid, supported by the proven Caterpillar oil-cooled brake design on all four wheels, for stable maneuverability and safe braking. Fully independent secondary braking system that offers precise control in case of emergency through a hydraulic-controlled secondary brake pedal that serves as a backup to electronic controls.
The productivity
The most efficient electric drive dump truck in its category: it allows for moving more tons per liter (US tons per US gallon) and transporting more materials faster, which allows you to either do more during a work day or transport the same amount of materials with fewer dump trucks. Available with higher power to increase productivity in deeper quarries, as well as lower power, electronically adjustable, to allow the 798 to better adapt to mixed fleets. Ease of use and cost reduction thanks to the close integration of the Cat engine, AC drive system, hydraulic circuit, and controls. End-to-end visibility of all dump truck parameters to optimize energy efficiency, slope speed, and parasitic loads throughout the operating range. Excellent control of slow speed in maintenance areas as well as superior engine torque and acceleration when moving away from the excavator.
Driver Comfort
Ergonomic layout in the cabin, excellent panoramic visibility as well as controls, levers, and switches positioned to facilitate their use. Automatic air conditioning, reduction of vibrations and noise level. Next-generation seat, equipped with a height adjustment device, adjustable shoulder support to prevent rubbing of the seat belt, as well as back, side, and lumbar supports to increase stability.
Easy Maintenance
A high displacement, a nominal idle speed, and a reasonable nominal power improve productive time on tracks and reduce downtime. The intake manifolds and turbochargers are located outside the engine's "V", which provides more space for maintenance technicians to work on the upper part of the engine and in the engine bay. Sealed and pressurized inverter cabinet that requires no cleaning, eliminating hundreds of hours of maintenance over the life of the dump truck. Engine walkways and maintenance platforms, modular components, and ground-level grouped maintenance points for convenience. Extended oil change interval (up to three times) with standard engine equipment, including the centrifugal oil filter (COF) and the self-cleaning filter (SCF).
Durability And Long Lifespan
First general overhaul after 25,000 hours for reduced ownership cost, with a proven C175 engine and electric drive system. Validated and proven straight chassis beam design that eliminates bends and breaks generated at stress concentration locations. Exceptional durability ensured by a boxed construction that uses Caterpillar patented steel for excellent welding characteristics. Increased chassis lifespan thanks to fully boxed beams in critical areas, reducing stress levels. The chassis, powertrain, engine, and components are designed for refurbishment, offering multiple lives of like-new performance at a fraction of the new price.
Durability
Designed to use less fuel, which reduces engine emissions and carbon footprint. Engine compliant with the American EPA Tier 4 Final / European Stage V standard (optional) which reduces NOx emissions by 62% and particulate matter by 93% compared to Tier 1 emission levels. Waste reduction thanks to the centrifugal oil filter (COF), self-cleaning engine filter as standard, extended oil change intervals, and reduced oil consumption. Engines compatible with diesel fuel blended with low carbon intensity fuels such as biofuels and renewable fuels, as well as power options such as trolley. Cat Rebuild and Cat Reman programs, which preserve raw materials, save energy, and reduce emissions.
Technological Solutions
Equipped as standard with the Product Link™ Elite monitoring system, which provides information on the status and payload to maintain high performance and enable proactive maintenance planning. Factory pre-equipped for a Cat MineStar™ Command system for fully integrated transport, an autonomous transport solution proven to increase productivity by up to 30%. Optional MineStar Fleet system, a fleet monitoring system, to measure, manage, and optimize all transport operations. Optional MineStar Detect proximity detection system, which uses cameras to give the driver a better view of what is happening around their equipment. The Driver Safety System (DSS) (optional) alerts the driver if signs of fatigue or distraction are detected.
Cat Bins
Bins designed to fit the chassis, sized to meet payload requirements and functioning as part of the dump truck system. Option for a high-efficiency (HE) tipping bin, lightweight, simplified, and durable. With its unique minimal structure design, the HE bin offers a long lifespan while minimizing weight for increased payload. HE bin sized and configured to meet the specific needs of the mine, induced by fragmentation, abrasion, cohesion, and loading equipment.
