Powertrain - Engine

773E - Powertrain - Engine

Diesel Engine with Air-Air Intercooler 3412e Cat The four-stroke design provides long engine times for complete fuel combustion and optimal efficiency. The large displacement and low rated speed extend the engine's lifespan while complying with China's Stage II emission standards for non-road engines. Engine 1) Valve rotators 2) Turbocharger 3) Stellite valves 4) Regulated copper and steel bearings 5) Oil cooler 6) Forged crankshaft 7) Non-adjustable injection pumps 8) Hydraulic injectors 9) Forged steel pistons 10) Full-length water-cooled liners A 40% Torque Reserve Means Shorter Cycle Times High overload force during acceleration and less downshifting on slopes or uneven terrain. Additionally, gear shift points are matched for maximum efficiency. Power and Engine Reliability Features of 3412e High-pressure injection Fully electronic control Copper alloy crankshaft bearings Hardened journals Dry-type air filters with radial seal (primary and secondary elements, pre-filter) The HEUI Circuit Provides Excellent Fuel Control It electronically monitors driver requests and sensor inputs to optimize engine performance. It independently controls injection pressure, timing, and duration over the engine's operating range. The rate modulation technology alters the heat release characteristics of the combustion process, significantly reducing noise levels and exhaust gas emissions. Electronic Control Module (ECM) The ECM monitors essential functions and records key indicators. The ET electronic tool can access this diagnostic information to simplify maintenance and repairs.

Powertrain - Transmission

773E - Powertrain - Transmission

1) The Lockable Torque Converter Increases Transmission Life and Improves Driver Comfort High rim effort and smooth gear shifts thanks to the efficiency and performance of direct drive. Engagement at approximately 6.9km/h (4.3mph), providing more power to the wheels. Quick release/engagement during gear shifts to maintain power. 2) Seven-Speed Powershift Cat Transmission A pressure modulating valve regulates clutch pressure to facilitate engagement and limit shocks. Patented rotary clutch pressure seals reduce drive losses and improve reliability. 35% slots between all gears are tailored to the Cat engine design for optimal use of engine power with fewer gear shifts and minimal use of the torque converter. Designed for the 3412E engine to provide constant power over a wide range of operating speeds. Seven forward gears, one reverse gear; gears two to seven are direct drive. The first gear has both torque converter drive and direct drive. 3) Reducers The 17.48:1 reduction ratio of the reducer and differential torque further limits stresses on the powertrain. Axles, Wheels, and Rims Floating axles are shot-peened to reduce internal stresses and increase durability. Roller splines also allow for extended lifespan. Rear cast wheels and mid-mount rims are installed using studs and nuts for maximum longevity.

Engine Integration / Powertrain Group

System Integration Improves Performance Electronic engine and transmission control improves efficiency, reduces operating costs, and increases machine lifespan. Cat Data Link Integrates machine computer systems: Automatic throttle control regulates engine speed during gear changes to limit stress on the powertrain and enable smoother gear shifts and longer component lifespan. Economy mode shifting adjusts engine curves to limit fuel consumption. Economy mode shifting regulates engine speed during bidirectional gear changes to prevent damage. High idle neutral lockout prevents shifting into neutral at speeds above 6.5km/h (4mph). Raised body shift inhibitor prevents transmission shifts beyond a preprogrammed gear ratio if the body is not fully lowered. Event memory stores operating data for access by the ET electronic device. Data includes: - Gear shift histograms - Driver-induced events - Lockup clutch counter - Machine/transmission overspeed ET Electronic Device (and Cat) Accesses engine and transmission data stored by the Cat data link system and displays the status of all engine parameters. Cat Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) Displays information on demand and alerts the driver to abnormal conditions through a three-level warning system. Optional Equipment Automatic retarder control (ARC) automatically controls downhill speed by maintaining engine speed at ±2230rpm. Traction control system (TCS) improves performance in low traction conditions by electronically monitoring and controlling wheel slip. Integrated brake controller (IBC) combines ARC and TCS to minimize electronic components and electrical lines.

Rear brakes with oil-cooled disc

Brakes 1) Parking/auxiliary piston, 2) Maneuver/slowdown piston, 3) Friction discs, 4) Steel plates, 5) Actuation springs, 6) Oil cooling inlet, 7) Oil cooling outlet Multidisc Brakes: Exceptional and Powerful Braking and Slowdown Cat multidisc brakes use continuous forced oil cooling. The optional ARC and TCS systems rely on oil-cooled rear brakes to improve the performance and productivity of the dump truck. Oil-Cooled Rear Disc Brakes Designed and manufactured to ensure reliable and non-adjustable operation, offering exceptional performance and lifespan compared to shoe and dry disc systems. The system combines maneuver, slowdown, and parking braking functions into a single unit. If the hydraulic circuit pressure drops below a certain level, the secondary piston engaged by a spring automatically engages the brake. A Thin Layer of Oil Prevents Direct Contact Between the Discs By absorbing braking forces, separating oil molecules, and dissipating heat, this design increases the lifespan of the brakes. Auxiliary Braking Oil-cooled disc brakes, spring-actuated and hydraulically released, are located on the rear axle. The front brakes are activated as part of the auxiliary system, even when they are deactivated. Parking Brakes Spring-actuated and hydraulically released parking brakes use oil bath disc brakes for the maneuvering system. A toggle switch activates the parking brake. Pistons The patented Caterpillar two-piece piston combines maneuver, auxiliary, and parking brakes, as well as slowdown functions.

Dumpster

773E - Dumpster

Designed for handling a wide range of materials with different densities. Maximum payload in 3 to 5 passes with the corresponding Cat loader in materials beyond 1700kg/m³ (2900lb/yd³). Characteristics of the Buckets The joints of the side walls and the bottom use five-sided beams to resist shocks and transport stresses. The beams of the boxes improve the durability of the bottom, side walls, upper ramp, angles, and cabin roof. The Brinell400 steel wear surfaces offer excellent wear resistance and are easily cold welded. The two-stage lifting cylinders rise in 9.5 seconds and lower in 12.5 seconds. The standard bucket is heated by exhaust gases, with options including a permanent muffler or an exhaust gas bypass valve. Custom equipment includes tailgate reinforcement, extensions, and more, to ensure the nominal payload. The Dual Slope Bucket Offers the Lowest Cost Per Ton Efficient in most construction and mining applications, it also excels on difficult terrains and steeper slopes. Manufacturing of the Bucket Bottom V-shaped bottom at 8° - centers the load, lowers the center of gravity, increases retention, limits shocks. V-shaped slope at 18º and slope at 9º forward - keeps loads on slopes up to 15%. Simple slope at 12º - excellent wear characteristics and uniform discharge in hoppers, crushers, and distributors.
