The Cat D9^® dozer is a versatile machine designed for use in a variety of applications, such as ripping, pushing production, dozing, winching, site maintenance, park support, and recycling. It can be equipped with multiple blade options to meet specific job site needs. As a highly reliable and fully integrated Cat machine, the components of the D9 work together to deliver peak performance, high availability, and long life. Features like the new torque converter with differential coupling increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. Additionally, a number of embedded technology solutions further enhance efficiency and performance. These improvements (and many others) make the D9 a dozer that offers a lower overall cost per unit of material moved.

Performance and efficiency

The torque converter with differential coupling automatically releases the stator when torque multiplication is not necessary under low load conditions. This results in improved efficiency of the powertrain for reduced fuel consumption. The Bogie suspension allows the chain to conform to ground conditions, providing better traction and limiting slippage. The differential steering allows for the transportation of heavy loads while ensuring quick and smooth maneuvers.

Driver's comfort

Without equivalent, the cabin is equipped with improved ergonomics, a fully adjustable pneumatic suspension seat, and automatic temperature control. The suspended undercarriage absorbs impacts and reduces transmitted shocks to the undercarriage by up to 50%, for a smoother and more comfortable ride. The electronic controls for steering, ripping, and bulldozing are easily accessible and allow for safe and precise maneuvers.

Security

The driving position offers an exceptional field of vision thanks to a conical hood, a notched fuel tank, and a narrow ripper carriage. This allows the driver to have a clear line of sight on the front and rear working areas. The optional 360° camera system and cabin screen further improve visibility. The optional motorized ladder improves access and exit from the cabin. Ground-level access, forward opening of the cabin door, retaining pins on the lower guard, and removed grease points on the lifting cylinder provide a higher level of safety for maintenance personnel.

The productivity

The differential steering offers a tight turning radius while maintaining a high ground speed in turns. The Powershift transmission with planetary gears allows for smooth speed and direction changes with the advanced electronic productivity control system (APECS). The cabin information display screen is larger, faster, and more powerful, with increased memory and an intuitive menu structure. The optional work tracking screen collects machine data and provides real-time feedback on performance to optimize productivity. The dual tilt option allows the driver to optimize the blade tilt angle, improving load control and enabling material transport instead of just pushing it.

Versatility

The D9 offers sufficient versatility for a variety of applications and is perfectly suited for use in heavy construction, quarries, landfills, stockyards, logging, and mining sites. The powerful C18 Cat Engine is available in configurations compliant with Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Final standards of the US EPA and Stage V of the European Union. The fully suspended undercarriage ensures better ground contact, thereby reducing slippage and increasing overall productivity in all applications. The continuous power of the two tracks allows for smooth control in turns and excellent maneuverability in all applications, while maintaining a high ground speed.

Ease of maintenance

Features such as the integrated automatic lubrication system, reduction in the number of lubrication points, extended filter replacement intervals, ease of component disassembly, and continuous monitoring of fluid levels contribute to achieving up to 4% savings in maintenance and repair. Grouped maintenance points minimize movement around the machine, and ground-level access facilitates interventions on fluids and key electrical controls. Cat Remote Update sends an alert from your Cat dealer, inviting you to update the software on your machine. Updates can be deployed on-site, without having to wait for a dealer technician to arrive.

Blades and equipment

Perfectly suited for the D9, Cat blades are particularly effective on hard materials and offer superior load capacity. Cat blades are capable of withstanding bending and torsional distortion and offer increased resistance to wear, without sacrificing machine balance or performance. Specialized equipment includes a single-tooth or multi-tooth ripper.

Built to go far

Its chassis is designed to absorb the high-impact shock and torsion stresses encountered during rigorous applications of pumping and ripping. The powertrain and main components are designed to be refurbished to offer you a cost-effective second life, providing the same performance as new at a fraction of the cost of new. The DuraLink™ undercarriage offers a 20 to 40% longer lifespan and 8,000-hour joint lifespan, thanks to the new extended-life (HDXL) and heavy-duty undercarriage.
