Improved Vibration System

CS79B - Improved Vibration System

Waterproof Balourds The B series uses the proven Cat sealed balourd housing vibration system. The circuit design significantly reduces the risk of contamination, which is common in conventional designs that use metal counterweights. Offering unmatched reliability and performance, the Cat sealed balourd housing vibration system requires virtually no maintenance, with the first maintenance period set at 3 years or 3,000 hours. Increased Amplitude The B series vibrating soil compactors offer improved compaction performance due to increased amplitude. The maximum amplitude is now one of the highest in the industry, providing superior soil compaction energy transfer capacity. Automatic Vibration A new automatic vibration function is available. If vibration is engaged, it stops when the compactor speed drops below a predetermined value. When the translation resumes, the vibration restarts at a predetermined speed. This feature contributes to high-quality and consistent work. Vibrating Soil Compactor Smooth drums are perfectly suited for compacting granular materials and can be equipped with an optional padfoot kit for compacting cohesive or semi-cohesive soil. Universal Bumper The universal bumper allows for adding weight to the drum while facilitating the installation of the optional padfoot kit.

Reliable Powertrain Group

CS79B - Reliable Powertrain Group

Twin Pump Transmission System The exclusive Cat twin pump transmission system provides continuous hydraulic flow for excellent uphill performance and blade function. It has been optimized with electronic control for improved performance. The twin pump transmission system provides separate hydraulic flow to the rear wheels and cylinder for exceptional traction in thick layers, soft soils, or steep slopes. It also allows for better control on uphill or downhill slopes. Cat Diesel Engine The B-Series Vibratory Soil Compactors are equipped with a Cat Engine that offers greater efficiency, easier maintenance, high power, and reduced noise levels. Cat engines use technologies to meet emission standards. This innovative combination produces cleaner combustion and provides consistent power in all working conditions, with optimal energy efficiency. Large Cooling Block The B-Series Vibratory Soil Compactors feature a large cooling block and a variable speed fan. The large circuit helps maintain operating temperatures within optimal ranges. The variable speed fan reduces energy consumption by operating only at the necessary speed to cool the circuit. The reduction in energy consumption contributes to more efficient fuel usage. Eco Mode The B-Series Vibratory Soil Compactors are equipped with Eco mode, a function that reduces fuel usage. When the machine is idle for a predetermined period of time, Eco mode is activated and the engine speed decreases. When translation is engaged, the engine speed increases again. For certain applications, Eco mode can be activated to run the engine at a lower speed than normal. A lower engine speed results in less fuel consumption. Eco mode can also be programmed to completely shut off the engine after a time period defined by the operator. Automatic Engine Speed Control Automatic engine speed control is a feature that allows the operator to select a maximum working speed. Once selected, the speed can be achieved uniformly by fully engaging the translation lever. A constant speed contributes to the quality of compaction by facilitating uniformity in compaction.

Comfort of the Driving Position

Configuration of the ROPS/FOPS Cabin The optimized design of the ROPS/FOPS cabin offers the driver more comfort. The cabin includes an adjustable multi-position steering wheel for added comfort. The adjustable and swiveling fabric seat, equipped with a seatbelt and an integrated driver display, allows easy access to controls and integrated operating information. A 12-volt adapter allows for powering personal electronic devices. A floor mat reduces vibrations. Glass panels and large mirrors provide excellent rear views of the machine. With the temperature control, which includes heating and air conditioning, the driver has a more comfortable environment. Large windows on the door and right side of the cabin open widely, allowing for maximum air circulation. The cabin is pre-wired to integrate a radio (not provided). Fabric trim offers a quality finish. An interior mirror set, as well as a high-back Deluxe fabric seat, are available as options. Driver's Seat The new design of the standard driver's seat offers a 20° pivot to the right and includes, on the right armrest, the translation arm and the control console with LCD screen. This design allows the driver easy access to controls and the screen when the seat is turned. The seat is equipped with a retractable seatbelt. A Deluxe high-back seat with pneumatic suspension is available as an option on machines equipped with a cabin. Multifunction LCD Display The driver's seat features a standard control console, integrating a multifunction LCD screen in the armrest. The screen functions like an instrument cluster and allows the driver to access diagnostic functions and view other data. Machines equipped with Cat compaction control also display compaction measurements on this screen.

Control Option for Cat Compaction

Two Compaction Measurement Technologies Available Two different compaction measurement technologies are available: CMV (Compaction Meter Value) technology or MDP (Machine Drive Power) technology. Both technologies display real-time measurements on the LCD screen. Compaction Meter Value (CMV) CMV technology is an accelerometer-based measurement system for granular soils. It is only available for smooth drum soil compactors (CS models). It works when the drum vibrates, takes measurements at depth (1.0-1.2 m (3-4 ft)), and provides the operator with an image of what is beneath the surface. CMV technology can reveal many things to an experienced operator, such as the location of hidden anomalies (buried objects, rocks, clay balls, etc.) or poorly compacted areas. It can even indicate if increasing moisture is necessary to facilitate compaction. Machine Drive Power (MDP) MDP technology is an exclusive technology available only on Caterpillar machines. It indicates soil stiffness by measuring rolling resistance. It is available on all Cat B-Series soil compactors, both smooth drum and padfoot models. It can also be used on smooth drum machines equipped with padfoot kits. Suitable for all types of soil, it works when the drum is stationary or vibrating. MDP technology measures depth closer to the compacted material layers, at approximately 30-60 cm (1-2 ft) depth. MDP technology is more flexible than CMV technology as it is suitable for all soil types and takes measurements closer to the surface, allowing for comparison with results from portable measuring equipment such as falling weight deflectometers and nuclear gauges. It does not require the drum to vibrate, reducing the risk of loosening during control rolling. GNSS Mapping Functionality Cat compaction control can be enhanced by adding a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) mapping antenna and dedicated display system. This allows for achieving SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) level accuracy, enabling the operator to visually monitor the results, associate them with locations, and record the data for analysis or documentation purposes. GNSS RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) mapping functionality is also available, offering higher precision than SBAS technology.

Easy Maintenance

Tilting Cooling Block For easier cleaning, the cooling block tilts. Proper cleaning ensures maximum engine protection through the cooling circuit. Spaced Maintenance Intervals Long maintenance intervals increase productivity and reduce operating costs. The oil drain interval for the vibration system is 3 years/3,000 operating hours. The hydraulic oil drain interval is 3,000 hours. The engine oil drain interval is 500 hours. Maintenance-Free Coupling The coupling is equipped with sealed bearings that require no greasing.
