The R1600H ® Cat underground loader is equipped with a specially tuned powertrain for speed on slopes, to handle poor ground conditions, and for maximum production in all speed ranges. It has the strength and durability to work in tough conditions, but also stands out for its precise controls and efficient operation. It offers superior stability, exceptional digging and lifting capacity, as well as a variety of efficiency-enhancing features, not to mention a transmission that provides constant power.
In addition, the R1600H offers a number of safety features, including a FOPS/ROPS certified cabin and windows, and the ability to integrate an autonomous driving system. Thanks to its structure designed for extreme durability, the loader can maintain its productivity for up to four rebuilds. The R1600H is perfectly suited for the Cat AD30 haul truck.

Security
The large window openings provide better visibility and the large handles on both sides offer 3-point access to the cabin and the machine. The driver presence detection system protects the machine and the driver from uncontrolled movements of the machine. The integrated Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS) are resiliently mounted on the chassis. The maneuver braking system operated by modulated hydraulic pressure and the spring-loaded and liquid-released parking brake ensure braking in case of hydraulic failure. Safer maintenance thanks to the hot and cold sides of the engine, articulated belly guards, safety pins on the bucket control group, engine compartment level indicators, and three ground-level engine shutdown switches.
Mastering and Driving Comfort
The air conditioning ensures a circulation of fresh, pressurized and temperature-controlled air. The optional soundproofed ROPS cabin provides a quiet and secure working environment. The controls, levers, switches, and gauges are positioned to maximize productivity and minimize fatigue. In addition, the STIC™ system allows the machine to be operated with a single controller. The oil-cooled four-wheel braking system ensures excellent vehicle control. The oscillating rear axle ensures contact of all four wheels with the ground for maximum traction and stability at all times, while the non-rotating rear differential reduces tire wear and maximizes traction on uneven terrain.
Performance and Productivity
High hydraulic flow rates allow for a quick response from the hydraulic circuit and cylinders, and provide considerable lifting forces. In addition, the large-bore tilt and lift cylinders offer exceptional resistance, performance, and durability. The Autoshift electronic transmission increases driver efficiency and optimizes machine performance. The proven geometry of the loader's Z-bar linkage generates exceptional breakout force and increased dump angle, for better material retention and more efficient loading. The optional anti-stall system reduces forward and backward tilt of the lift arm and bucket, giving drivers the confidence to move at speeds exceeding 5 km/h (3 mph) during loading and transport operations, for faster cycle times. The high-pressure direct injection fuel system, equipped with electronically controlled mechanical unit injectors (MEUI™), electronically monitors driver requests and sensor inputs to optimize engine performance.
Power and Efficiency
Equipped with the efficient and powerful C11 Cat engine, which provides optimal displacement and loading performance in the most demanding mining applications. The full integration of the engine and transmission circuits ensures excellent energy efficiency and flexibility of use. Unmatched traction force during excavation, displacement, and crossing of steep slopes, as well as increased torque that effectively matches the transmission's gear shift points for maximum efficiency and fast cycle times. Superior drivetrain efficiency thanks to a high-capacity torque converter that delivers more power to the wheels. Cat reducers function as a system with the Powershift transmission with planetary gears to provide maximum power to the ground.
Godets And G.e.t
Buckets designed for optimal load capacity and structural reliability, with four sizes of tilt buckets, an ejector bucket option, and a bolt-on bucket option, all designed and manufactured to match their performance capabilities. Cat Modular Ground Engagement Tool (GET) system, which ensures the reliability of welded parts with the simplicity of replacing a mechanical system. Bolt-on Half Arrow (BOHA) GET for bucket edges offer more wear material than standard welded GET, and feature a bolted design that allows for quick and easy removal and replacement. Additional wear sets, including sacrificial wear strips and Cat heel protectors, protect the edges and prevent costly bucket renovations. The Cat Bucket Pro application provides real-time data on GET performance to help you plan maintenance, manage inventory, and know the cost per US tonne.
Easy Maintenance
Thanks to more robust structures, modular and more durable components, common parts, more accessible maintenance areas, and longer maintenance intervals, maintenance is reduced. Access to maintenance is facilitated by the modular radiator with swivel grille and ground-level access to all tanks, filters, lubrication points, and compartment drains. Features that reduce downtime, such as easy-to-change radial seal air filters, integrated liquid level indicators, waterproof electrical connectors, covered harnesses, no cables in the outer articulation area, and color-coded and numbered wires. The multi-screen CMPD display combined with the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET Cat) serves as a maintenance tool for quick electronic diagnostics of machine performance and provides essential diagnostic data for efficient maintenance and repairs. Field-proven XT Cat high-pressure hydraulic hoses offer exceptional strength and flexibility to ensure maximum system reliability and extended service life.
Solutions Cat Minestar
The factory-prepared remote control can be equipped with the industry-proven MineStar™ Cat control for underground work, which offers direct visibility remote control, remote control and co-pilot, which only requires directional input from the operator. The optional MineStar Fleet software for underground work provides real-time visibility of cycle time, payload, machine position, and other key operational parameters. The optional MineStar Detect software uses a proximity detection system, coupled with a revolutionary communication and tracking network to prevent incidents and track people and machines in real time. Optional Cat MineStar™ Health offerings provide proactive maintenance services and predictive equipment analysis.
