Overview
The SEM 920F is a motor grader designed for ground leveling, grading, trenching, slope scraping, snow removal, loosening, material distribution, mixing and land reclamation.
Equipped with an SDEC engine, PPPC load-sensing hydraulic system and SEM rear tandem axle designed and manufactured by Caterpillar, the 920F combines precise control, reliability, operating comfort and lower owning and operating costs.
The new-generation SEM F Series motor grader features key upgrades, including direct connection of the hydraulic pump to the gearbox, removal of the pump drive shaft under the cab and a new molded engine hood with a modern design.

Operate in Comfort
The standard blade float function improves efficiency and makes operation easier. Caterpillar’s classic lever control offers short travel and precise operation. The adjustable console and seat, combined with optimized ergonomics, improve operator comfort. The cab benefits from improved airtightness and reduced noise. Additional vents in the new dashboard and cab columns further enhance interior comfort.
Performance You Need
The circle drive delivers up to twice the torque of the industry standard, improving working efficiency. The PPPC hydraulic system ensures precise, predictable and consistent operational movement regardless of engine speed. The cab is mounted on the front frame to provide enhanced visibility for easier operation. The 7-hole link bar with electro-hydraulic pin puller provides excellent moldboard extension capability and superior performance.
Low Cost per Hour
The load-sensing PPPC hydraulic system reduces heat generation and fuel consumption while improving efficiency. The hydraulic cooling fan delivers high efficiency across different ambient temperature conditions and improves cooling performance. The Caterpillar Qingzhou in-house SEM tandem axle, final drive units with four planetary gears, oil-bath lubrication, and maintenance-free, adjustment-free chain support higher carrying capability. The removable drawbar ball joint makes replacement and maintenance easier.
Ease of Operation
The cab, mounted on the front frame, provides an exceptional view of the blade and front axle even when using articulation, improving safety and accuracy. Short-throw levers are efficiently spaced for easy multi-function control. Their short stroke and low effort reduce operator fatigue and improve efficiency. The PPPC load-sensing hydraulic system maintains consistent and precise blade movement regardless of engine speed variations. The 7-hole link bar with electro-hydraulic control allows easy adjustment from the cab and provides excellent blade extension capability. Air conditioning is standard, with additional air vents from the dashboard and left and right cab columns, while improved cab sealing helps reduce noise and vibration.
High Efficiency and Reliability
The world-class variable displacement piston pump and PPPC valves with load-sensing hydraulic system are specifically designed for motor grader applications. They continuously match hydraulic flow and pressure to power demand, support easy multi-function control and reduce energy loss. The implement pump has been moved to the transmission PTO port, removing the pump drive shaft under the cab, reducing noise and maintenance points. The standard blade float function allows the blade to lower without hydraulic pressure, increasing versatility and helping protect both the machine and pavement, especially during snow removal. Class-leading circle drive torque improves material spreading and grading capability. Versatile configurations meet different customer needs, including hand throttle, DCM grease tank, level gauge, rear camera and transmission guard.
Robustness and Durability
The A-frame tubular drawbar provides maximum strength and durability. The flanged box-section front frame removes welds from high-stress areas, improving reliability and durability. Continuous top and bottom plate construction reinforces structural consistency and strength. The tandem axle benefits from Caterpillar motor grader design experience, with improved bearing layout, optimized load distribution, final drive with four planetary gears and oil-bath lubrication for longer oil-change intervals. Inboard lock check valves in the PPPC system prevent unintended cylinder movement and potential leaks. The hydraulic cooling fan comes with a standard 43°C cooling package and optional 50°C package for better adaptability across different working environments.
Ease of Maintenance and Lower Cost
The new family-style metal molded hood offers a bold visual identity, with right and left side doors for easy service and maintenance. The replaceable drawbar draft ball, bolted rather than welded, allows easy removal of wear shims to adjust the drawbar, reducing service time and cost. The tandem axle uses an external disc service brake for superior braking and shorter stopping distance. Friction plates compatible with SEM wheel loaders make replacement easier. Grease-free lubrication of the rear axle and tandem, together with the adjustment-free chain design, extends the maintenance cycle. Hydraulic hose routing reduces exposure to damage and provides quick service access. One-key operation simplifies machine and fleet management. The transmission filling port is raised for easier oil changing and better protection from impacts, while the visual level gauge replaces the traditional dipstick for easier inspection.
Operational Safety
The disc service brake features dual-circuit braking, separating front/rear and left/right braking to ensure high safety standards. The dashboard includes a three-level alarm monitoring system. A three-point contact handrail provides easy access for entry, regular inspection and maintenance.
